Create your trading subaccount — Coinbase

Create and fund a dedicated Coinbase portfolio so it's ready to run Alpha Pro.

Coinbase works with portfolios instead of sub-accounts: you create a separate portfolio inside your account, and Alpha Pro trades only in that one.

Why dedicated? Alpha Pro needs a space that only it uses. To keep the strategy working correctly, don't place manual trades or modify positions inside it once it's running.

Step 1 — Create a dedicated portfolio

Follow the official Coinbase guide on multiple portfolios. Two things to know:

  • Portfolios are created on the web version of Coinbase Advanced (not the mobile app).
  • Give it a clear name so you can tell it apart from your other funds.

Step 2 — Transfer funds

Move funds from your primary portfolio into the new dedicated one — transfers between portfolios are instant and free (the same Coinbase guide above shows how).

It needs to hold the minimum balance before you connect it — at least $30,000 USDT or USDC for Alpha 1x, or 0.4 BTC or $30,000 USDT or USDC for Alpha 2x. If the funds aren't there, connecting will fail with an "Insufficient Funds" error.

What's next

Once your dedicated space is ready and funded, continue with the setup guide to connect it to Alpha Pro: How to get started and set up Alpha Pro.
